Charles Henry Barberet, 92 of Thomaston, passed away peacefully January 1st at St. Mary’s Vitas with his loving family by his side after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was the widower of Ermaine Kelly Barberet.  Charles was born in Plymouth, CT on December 17th, 1924 and was the son of the late Evangeline Parsons and Charles Henry Barberet.  Charles started working at Lyons Tea Store in Thomaston at the age of sixteen driving a bus and automotive mechanic for most of his career.  He was remembered by many as one of their favorite school bus drivers.  His upbeat personality along with silly jokes were loved by all and never failed to put a smile on those he told them to.  He enjoyed taking long rides especially to Vermont.  Having owned a race car in his younger days, he was a longtime fan of NASCAR racing.  He was a hard -working, loving, husband, father, grandfather and most recently, great grandfather.  He was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Ermaine, sister Lorraine, brother, Paul and twin brother Alfred.  He leaves behind his daughter Kathleen Barberet of Thomaston, daughter Donna Zubik and her husband Ray of Cody, WY, daughter Laurie DiBlasi and her husband Frank of Wolcott, son Todd Barberet of Thomaston, son Kerry Barberet and his wife Joann of Thomason. His grandchildren Christopher DiBlasi, Aimee Bensavage, Cassandra Ingraham, Jeffrey DiBlasi, twin grandsons Jeremy and Cory Zubik, Nicole Barberet, Kaylyn Barberet, and great grandsons, Nickolas and Frank Bensavage.  He also leaves behind sister, Dorothy Olmstead of Woodbury, several sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and feline companion Gracie. Calling hours will be held Thursday evening from 5-7 pm at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St. Terryville immediately followed by a short service.  The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Vitas staff for the loving care given to their father in his final hours.   www.scottfuneralhomeinc.com
