Heather Lynn(Johnson)Brockway 51, of Watertown, wife of Eric W. Brockway, left this earth on August 6th and was received into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ. Heather was born on October 27th 1963.  She will be missed dearly by her mother Adrienne Johnson and joins her earthly father in heaven, Robert E. Johnson Sr. of Terryville.  She also leaves her siblings, Celeste Johnson Elsaghir, Robert  Johnson and his wife Shirley , Melanie Stephenson and her husband, Scott, Joseph and his wife, Karen, Kristin Guidone and her husband David.  In addition she leaves her in laws, Clifford and Susan Brockway, and her sister in laws Elizabeth Anderson, Linda Smith and her husband, Mike, and brother in  law Aaron.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews and friends to cherish her memory.    Her wheelchair never stopped her from living her life to the fullest.  Never complaining,  Heather was always the first to give a word of encouragement or a heartfelt prayer for those around her. Heather lived the Christian life, as a loving testimony to all and was faithful to the end.

Heather was very active in theater and music and attended The Lee Strasberg School of Acting in NYC participating in many musicals and plays.  She graduated from SCSU with an undergrad in English, and shortly after achieved her Teacher's certification for Secondary education. She also received her  master's degree in social worker from SCSU and worked as a teacher and MSW in several schools until her disease prevented her from continuing.

Friends may call from 6-9PM Monday  August 10th at Scott Funeral Home 169 Main St Terryville, CT. Funeral Service will be 9AM Tuesday at Pinebrook Assembly Of God, 232 City Hill St Naugatuck, CT with procession following to Hillside Cemetery in Terryville CT.

Heather's sweet spirit, keen intelligence, and loving heart made her truly special. She was a much loved sister in the Lord whose testimony and earthly walk with Jesus were beautiful to witness. We are fortunate to have known and loved Heather. She was truly a blessing to all who knew her. May you find comfort in cherished memories and the knowledge that she is at peace with our Lord.

Much, much love to all of Heather's family and friends at this bittersweet time! She is finally free to run, leap, and dance for her Saviour! The light of Christ in her transcended her physical limitations!

What I will remember about Heather is her enthusiasm. I recall going to visit her one day during one of her stays in a rehab facility and she was so excited saying, “Kim, you have to listen to this song. Listen to it.” She handed me a player and headphones, and I heard …

Surrounded by your glory
What will my heart feel?
Will I dance for you Jesus,
Or in awe of you be still?
Will I stand in your presence,
Or to my knees will I fall?
Will I sing Halelluja,
Will I be able to speak at all?
I can only imagine
I can only imagine

Today, Heather no longer has to imagine. She is free. I mourn the type of life she could have had, that the disease took from her years ago, but I am in awe and celebrate the life she did have; How in spite of the limitations of her body, she served God and loved God with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength.

I am so saddened at the news of Heather's passing. I have fond memories of singing (and sometimes laughing!) with her in high school (we stood next to each other in the back row!) and I was simply mesmerized by her vivacity. She stood out like nobody else. There was nothing she couldn't do! She inspired me, and I'm sure she never knew that. But I think she brought out the best in people. She was truly beautiful, inside and out.

Heather was indeed an overcomer. She didn't let her disease get the best of her and I always remember her being positive and hopeful. She was (and still is) a warm hearted person and always was radiant with the Holy Spirit. Now she is totally healed and complete in Christ! God Bless Eric and the rest of his family with peace and comfort.

Heather, you were a bright light in the world. Just knowing you were here made me smile. "Because I knew you, I have been changed for good." Now, go make Heaven smile, too.

Although I never knew Heather I did know her mom who was a substitute nurse for me on many occasions. From her mom I could tell she was a very special person and her kind spirit touched many others. I know Heather will be standing along side all of God's angels in heaven. Free of all earthly pain and suffering, filled with God's goodness that awaits us all. God Bless you Heather I will keep you in my prayers and may her family find peace knowing she is at rest.

Adrienne and family,
The grave side service was a testament to your family's faith in Christ Jesus, our Savior. Bob offering prayers of thanksgiving and the whole gathering singing, with assuredness, 'Amazing Grace', all the verses.
It was beautiful. His Grace and Peace be with you all,
Marie Mac Dermid

Heather and I spent 6 months in England together in 1983....2 months after her diagnosis. Seems like so long ago, however, Heather's strong and rooted character was palpable. She looked at her future right in the face and went head first always with humor and humility. I have missed her over the years that came between us, but I thought about her often. My thoughts and prayers go out to Heather's family, her sisters that she spoke of so often, her mom and everyone who was touched by Heather.
