Cheryl (Stanulis) Brown of Plainville, former Terryville resident passed away on Friday (Aug. 24, 2007) after a long and courageous battle with cancer.Cheryl leaves her two beloved children Ashley Nicole and Gregory Aaron.Cheryl was born on Sept. 9, 1955 to the late Robert and Gloria Stanulis.She is survived by her loving brother Daniel Stanulis who always remained by her side.She was predeceased by her older brother Richard Stanulis.She leaves her loving uncle, Richard Couture and his sons and their wives Tom and Doug Couture and his sons and their children and among other relatives she leaves special cousins John and Sharon Fortunato.She also leaves her sister-in-law Mary Southern and her daughter Alicea, Betty Stanulis, her Dad's wife and her children Cathy, Jimmy and Jennifer and their families.Cheryl graduated from St. Paul Catholic High School Class of 1973 and Hartford Hospital Class of 1976 as a registered nurse, where she is a member of the Alumnae Assn.She worked for 25 years at NBGH and 10 years at the Visiting Nurses of Central CT.At the VNA she was awarded the Commitment of to Caring Award and the Florence Nightingale award which is presented to outstanding nurses. Cheryl endured any treatments or test hoping to prolong her life for her children.Her children were the focus of her life.Words can't explain the support, love and teaching of values she tried to instill into her children's lives.She always prayed that her children would be high achievers, meeting their goals and become honest adults and remember their mom's unconditional love and devotion to them.Last, but by far not last, Cheryl leaves her love and thanks to her wide circle of friends who helped her to survive as long as she did.She thanks God, for her children, her brother Dan, Mary and Tony Munson, Ellen and Paul Stawarz, friends Marianne and Chris McNeill, Larry and Rene' Zarrella, Marty and Barbara Lutkiewicz, the Merrows, Ann Flynn, Patrick and Sue Buden, Cheryl Boudreau, the "Dinner Club" David McKinnon, Chuck and Nancy, her visiting nurses Ruth LaSota, Cindy,Ellie Thomson and all her friends at the VNA and NBGH.She also leaves her very dear friend Father Ron Smith, who gave her undying love and support and the late Father Phillip Cascia.She also leaves her beloved cat Petey.Funeral services will be held Monday 9:30a.m. from the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville to the Immaculate Conception Church, Terryville for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00.Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 5 -8p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the George Bray Cancer Center at the Hospital of Central Ct, 100 Grand St. New Britain, CT 06050.
