Charles M. Buell, 93, of Farmington, former Terryville resident, husband of the late Virginia (Stone) Buell died Sunday at the UCONN Medical Center, Farmington.

Chuck was born October 19, 1915 in Baltimore, Maryland. He was the son of the late Harry and Jennie (Dunn) Buell. He was a graduate of Eastern High School, Washington D.C., received an Associate Degree at the American University in Washington, D.C. and a Bachelor Degree at the University of Hartford. He served in the U. S. Marine Corps during WWII and Korean War and was awarded the Bronze Star and two Presidential Unit Citations for action in combat areas.
Prior to retirement his various full time occupations were, 1940 - 1956, the U.S. Marine Corps, 1956 - 1979, OZ/Gedney Co. Terryville where his highest position was V.P. of Finance, 1979 - 1983, Mayor of the Town of Plymouth, 1983 - 1987, Controller at Newmet Krebsoge Co. of Terryville, 1988 - 1989, Interim Manager, of the American Clock and Watch Museum of Bristol.

Chuck's volunteer and part time activities included, serving as Treasurer for the Town of Plymouth, Treasurer of the Plymouth Vol. Ambulance Corps, Finance Officer for the American Legion, Plymouth Post #20, Treasurer for the Litchfield Hills Visitor Center, prepared financial reports for the Terryville-Plymouth Day Care Center, Councilman 2nd Dist, for the Town of Plymouth, AARP Tax Return Preparer for the Elderly, Board of Finance for the Town of Plymouth, he was also an Associate member of many boards such as banks, hospital, the American Clock Museum and Lock Museum of America.

He is survived by his son, William Buell of Hollywood FL, his daughters, Sherrie Desmond of Cleveland, OH, Barbara Buell of Port Orange FL; 6 Grandchildren and 2 Great Grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held in the spring.
