Steven Robert Leonetti, 44, of Terryville passed away peacefully at home on February 10, 2021 after a brief illness. He was born at Bridgeport Hospital on July 30, 1976 to Laura Ann (Schultz) Leonetti and Sandy J. Leonetti. Steve grew up in Stratford and spent most of his life living and working in the area. He attended St. James and Holy Name Schools and graduated from Platt Technical Institute, Milford, CT, in 1994 with a concentration in HVAC services. Like his father, Steve possessed a strong mechanical aptitude, and much of his skill was self-taught. In his professional life, he was appreciative of his co-workers, especially frontline associates, and moved steadily from the shop floor into management roles with several prominent manufacturers. Once offered the opportunity to relocate to Texas for an expansion position, he chose instead to stay in his hometown where he and his young family was rooted and content.  Perhaps it was Steve’s desire to share his own childhood experiences with his treasured daughter, Talia: summer bike rides across Lordship to Long and Short Beach, winter sledding at Academy and Booth Hills, enjoying autumn’s colors with apple cider, pumpkins, and trick-or-treating, and feeling the rebirth of spring with walks through Longbrook Park in lilac-scented air. Steven was a happy kid, and he pursued life without fear. His adventures and misadventures in town with friends and family were – and are – a source of great joy. He is loved and missed deeply.

Steven is survived by his parents, Laura and Sandy Leonetti of Terryville, CT, his beloved daughter Talia Leonetti, his former wife, Agnes Dyro, as well as brother Keith Leonetti and his wife Sarah (Tobin) of Westbrook, ME. He has two grandmothers, Eleanor Leonetti and Virginia Schultz, aunts and uncles Diane (Leonetti) Springer, Faye & William Leonetti, Mark Schultz, and Julie (Tirnadi) Schultz.

He is predeceased by his grandfathers, Sandolo Leonetti, Sr, and Robert Schultz, and his uncle Michael Schultz, with whom he was especially close in mind and spirit.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 AM Thursday February 18, 2021 at St Casimir Church Terryville.

The family wishes to acknowledge and appreciate the extraordinary care provided to Steven by Dr. Brahaj and the staff at Bristol Hospital Cancer Center. Please accept our heart-felt gratitude.

If anyone wishes to remember him with a gift, please make a small donation to either BHCC or your local animal shelter, and thank you.
