Barbara (Tyminski) Deschaine 82, loving and loyal wife to Lawrence J. Deschaine, died at Bristol Hospital on February 4, 2021 from complications of COVID-19. She was born in Bristol, CT on October 7, 1938 to Walter and Helen (Dlugokenski) Tyminski.

Barbara married Lawrence (Larry) Deschaine on November 9, 1957. She was an elementary school educator after receiving her Bachelor of Science from The Teachers College of Connecticut (now CCSU).  She then went on to receive her Master’s Degree from the same school. She taught at Park Street School (Bristol, CT), Ellen P. Hubbell School (Bristol, CT), Linden Street School (Plainville, CT), and at Plymouth Center School (Plymouth, CT) until her retirement.  Barbara served on the Board of Directors at the Plymouth Public Library and was the Treasurer for the Republican Women’s Club.  She was on the Health Board of Terryville and was on the Plymouth Republican Town Committee. Barbara also served the Town of Plymouth for many years as a Registrar of Voters and served on the High School Building Committee.

Throughout her later life, Barbara courageously fought lung cancer. Her fight and determination inspired others to keep going and not give up.

She leaves behind her husband, Lawrence Deschaine, her daughter and son-in-law Kim Renee & Craig D. Thompson, her son and daughter-in-law Larry M. & Kim Ann Deschaine, a grandson and his wife Michael and Amanda Thompson, a brother and sister-in-law Ken & Renee Tyminski, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Barbara’s family would like to thank the Doctors and Nurses that serve in the Bristol Hospital ICU.  You will never know how your kindnesses helped us through this difficult time.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in accordance with Barbara’s wishes, a memorial service will be held on March 10th at 11:30 AM in the Holy Family Chapel at the Roman Catholic Diocese of Charleston SC, Pastoral Center.  Bishop Robert E. Guglielmone will be presiding.  The mass will be lived-streamed. Details will be provided at a later date.

The burial service will be presided by her son, Deacon Larry M. Deschaine.

Barbara will be buried at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Edgefield, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
