Helen Marsh, 97, a lifelong resident of Terryville, passed away at her home on July 3rd.  She was married to her childhood sweetheart, World War II Army veteran and former Plymouth Tax Collector, Hayden “Micky” Marsh, for 70 years, and accompanied him to Virginia and Alaska when he was recalled to active duty during the Korean War.  Helen was a long-time communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and taught Catechism to several generations of children over the course of the years.  Active in local politics, she was a member of the Democratic Women and often served as a moderator at the polls.   She will be fondly remembered by the many former Girl Scouts for whom she served as a Troop Leader.

She is survived by her cousin, Deborah Wentland Baci, and her husband Peter of Boca Raton, Florida.  She made many friends in Terryville over the course of a long life and will be greatly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday 11am at the Immaculate Conception Church Terryville. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery Terryville. There are no calling hours. Scott Funeral Home 169 Main St. Terryville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Plymouth Volunteer Ambulance Corps. 191 Main St. Terryville, CT 06786.

Debi,

Thank you for letting me know about Helen. I am so sorry for your loss - and for mine. She was a wonderful Godmother to me and was very special to me. Actually, not only to me but to Denis too. When I told him that she had passed away, he got tears in his eyes. We so enjoyed stopping to see her the three times a year when we would come back to Connecticut. We have wonderful memories of her and she had a wonderful long life but I will miss her very much. I have old photos of both she and Mickey and my mother that I will send you.
With sympathy,
Holly Barnes Dozois and Denis Dozois

Oh, Helen and Hayden were our neighbors for many years when we lived diagonally across the street from them on Pearl Street. Helen was such a lovely person. One of my brothers and I were just speaking about those old days and about ouneighborhood way back when. Helen was a lady through and through and a completely lovely person. Sympathy to the family.

What a wonderful and warm lady Mrs. Marsh was . She was a very special woman and influence to a group of young girls from a small town . We all felt in some way that she opened our world outside of Terryville. Trips to Washington and New York City I will always remember you in a very special way.

Helen was an open and loving women to all that she encountered her entire life. She led a life that is a true example of the catholic faith. She was a member of our family and we will miss her so much. Knowing that today she is together with Micky forever and always is a peaceful comfort.

Debi & Peter, Was heartbroken when Mary told me of Helen's passing. She was, & always will be, Mrs. Marsh to me. Her scouting leadership left an imprint on my heart for all these 60+ years. She was such a kind & loving lady. So many fond memories of her not only as a scout leader but as a dear friend. We touched bases now & then & our visits were no where near enough but have left me with such wonderful memories. May she rest in peace in the hands of the angels & next to God. May the angels enfold her with her own set of wings. My angel, Mrs. Marsh…..rest in peace & know you are loved by so many.
