Eugene “Gene” Vellucci, of Terryville, CT, passed to God on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the age of 64 at St. Francis Hospital, Hartford.

Gene was born to parents Eugene and Annette Vellucci on March 3, 1951 in Waterbury, CT. He grew up as the eldest of two boys and attended Sacred Heart High School. Gene attended the University of Connecticut in Waterbury and then Storrs, graduating in 1973. He graduated from the Bridgeport Engineering Institute (Fairfield University) in 1993. He worked for General DataComm beginning in 1982 and stayed on for over 30 years as an electrical software engineer.

Gene had many passions, among them a lifelong love of the outdoors. This included yearly and often too-short visits to lower Cape Cod. He enjoyed biking, fishing, and golf with his wife and children. His passion for biking took him through the trails of Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Rhode Island. He was active in his parish, St. Casimir’s of Terryville, and with their Men’s Club and yearly events. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, and he was a member and former President and Treasurer of the Terryville Fish and Game Club. He was an avid ballroom dancer; his favorite dance was the Bacchata. He took weekly lessons and yearly trips with his wife, where he made many friendships with his infectious smile. Most importantly, he was a collector and tinkerer, and he, in turn, encouraged the passions and interests of his family and friends to follow their dreams and hearts.

Gene is survived by his wife Pamela (Bannick), whom he met 46 years ago and had over 40 wonderful years of love and happiness through marriage.

Gene was deeply loved by his children, Anthony A. Vellucci of Milford, CT, and Michael D. Vellucci; Daughter-in-law, Abby of Middletown, RI; and his grandson Benjamin David Vellucci, whom he deeply loved beyond words. He is survived by his brother Vincent Vellucci and nephews Kyle and Jagger of Cheshire, CT; his Uncle and Aunt, Sam and Joyce Amico of Georgia; their children; his Aunt, Josephine Carnavale and members of the extended Amico, Bernardini, and Mirto family; his Sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Barbara and Warren Kulman; their sons, Chrstopher (Caroline), and Matthew (Kimberly); and three great nephews and nieces, Zachary, Alexandra, and Samantha.

A funeral mass will take place on August 8 at 11:00 a.m., at St. Casimir’s R.C. Church at 19 Allen Street, Terryville, CT. Friends and family are invited to attend this celebration of his life.

The family is grateful for condolences, but in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Connecticut Chapter of the American Liver Foundation at127 Washington Avenue, North Haven, CT 06473.

I went to high school and college with Gene and worked with him at GDC for 16 years! He was one of the "good guys," never had a discouraging word and it was a pleasure knowing him. My condolences to his family.
