Raymond W. Zalaski Sr., 80, of Terryville, husband of Elzina "Dickie" (Taylor) Zalaski, died Saturday at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center, Bristol.

Ray was born June 20, 1928 in Bristol, CT. He was the son of the late Stanley and Ida (Briggs) Zalaski and had been a lifelong resident of Terryville. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Prior to his retirement Ray worked for Waterbury Centerless Grinding, New Departure and the Terryville Bakery. Ray was a member of the Terryville Congregational Church, the Terryville Fish and Game Club, the American Legion Plymouth Post #20, and former member of the Terryville Lions Club and Pequabuck Political Club. Ray also served as president of the Eli Terry Housing Assoc. for many years.

Besides his wife he is survived by, his sons William Barbour of Woodbury, Raymond Zalaski Jr. of Terryville, Mark Tompkins of Terryville, Tom Zalaski of Plymouth; his daughters Patricia Thurston of Grey, ME, Linda Cheeseman of Newington, Pam Kamens of Terryville, his brother, Fred Zalaski of Southington; his sisters, Mary-Jo Reynolds of Terryville, Pauline "Lovey" Mastrobattisto of Terryville, Marge Taylor of Arizona; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Ray was predeceased by a brother and sister, Edmund "Midge" Zalaski and Doris Maslak.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday 11:00a.m. at the Terryville Congregational Church, 233 Main St. Terryville, CT. Burial with military honors will be at Hillside Cemetery, Terryville in the spring. Friends may call at the Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville Tuesday evening from 5:00 - 8:00p.m.
