Josephine Rosalie (Pensarosa) Rose, 97, of Terryville, wife of the late Ludwig Rose, died Saturday, Oct. 23, 2010 at Sheriden Woods Health Care Center in Bristol. Born Aug. 12, 1913 in Windsor Locks, she was the daughter of the late Ambrose and Maddalena (Nai) Pensarosa. Josephine grew up in Springfield, Mass. and graduated from the High School of Commerce in 1932. High school is also where she met her dear husband, "Lull," whom she married Oct. 31, 1944. The couple lived in Springfield, Windsor Locks, and Wallingford before settling in Southington. Josephine retired in 1979 after working as a secretary at the state health department and, earlier, in the art department of Southern Connecticut State College. She made the most of her retirement. She volunteered with RSVP; learned crafts, played cards and made dear friends at the Calendar House Senior Center; traveled; and cared for her family and spent many special summers with them in Stonington. She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church in Terryville. Josephine leaves a daughter and her husband, Diane M. and Robert L. King Sr.; a granddaughter, Erin Rose King; two grandsons, Robert L. King Jr. and his wife, Melissa, and Kevin M. King; and two great-granddaughters, Aniela Marie King and Bailee Elizabeth King, all of Terryville. She also leaves a nephew, Charles Pensarosa, a niece, Carla Sheehan, and their families, of Southington; and many cousins and friends. Josephine also leaves her dear friend and companion of the past 11 years, Clarence "Bud" Clayton Sr. of Terryville. In addition to her parents and husband, Josephine was predeceased by a brother, Charles Pensarosa, and an infant daughter, Janice Agnes Rose. Josephine's family is very appreciative of the wonderful care she received from the people of Vitas hospice services, Sheriden Woods, and the F South floor at Bristol Hospital. Calling hours will be Tuesday morning 9:30AM to 10:30AM at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, followed by a Mass at Immaculate Conception Church at 11:00AM. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, CT Chapter, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.
